Happy Tails Happy Homes is a nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to protecting and serving the well-being of animals and fostering positive relationships between people and animals. We are an at-home foster program—no shelters, no offices, and no paid staff. All of the money donated goes directly to our animals. We specialize in saving the underdogs, those with medical or behavioral challenges that need additional support and a second chance.

Buffalo Exchange Tokens for Bags Program
We are delighted to announce that we’ve joined Buffalo Exchange’s Tokens for Bags program!
Shoppers are offered a token in place of a bag, which they can donate to one of three local charities. For each token, Buffalo Exchange donates five cents to that charity. Since its creation in 1994, Buffalo Exchange has raised over $1,004,000 for thousands of local nonprofit organizations. Every token a customer donates represents a plastic bag that is not added into circulation. Together the program has kept over 20.07 million plastic bags from polluting the environment.
When you shop at Buffalo Exchange Downtown, toss your token in the Animal Welfare slot to benefit the underdogs of Happy Tails Happy Homes!

In Memory of Happy Tails Co-Founder Vicki Niles
January 3, 1953 – October 16, 2024
We mourn the loss of Vicki Niles, beloved founder and fierce champion of Happy Tails Happy Homes. Vicki and fellow long-term animal advocate Nikki Larson founded Happy Tails in 2011 for the express purpose of helping the underdogs. We take in those animals who need us the most, dogs with behavioral or medical challenges who need a second chance.

Parker
Parker was hit by a car and left on the side of the road. His pelvis was broken and he needed lots of veterinary care. He was going to be medically euthanized unless a rescue stepped up. Happy Tails Happy Homes welcomed him into the rescue and he now lives with one of our fosters. He loves the beach, snow, and cuddles most of all.

Lainey Adopted 2022
Lainey is little bark and no bite! A destroyer of soft toys and a fetcher of frisbees. Her favorite activity is blazing the trail ahead in the mountains, and always comes when dad calls. A puppy who is eager to learn and motivated by delicious kibble. Couldn’t ask for a better adventure pal!

Dixie
Dixie and her puppies came to Happy Tails Happy Homes when her owners could no longer care for her. She lived outside most of her life. Dixie is now a happy girl who is loved by her new family and spends her days cuddling on the couch.

Meeka Adopted 2021
Meeka came to HTHH when she was surrendered from an apartment in Seattle as a one year old. She now lives a life on the trails between Bellingham Bay and the North Cascades. She loves making new friends outside, dogs and Humans. She lives at Mt. Baker Ski Area and enjoys fall blueberries, while she waits for the snow to come back.
